Always say ‘Good Morning’
I probably need to put down at least a small foundation of tenets in regards to my core principles, and I would be remiss to say they started with anyone other than my parents and family members.
One of the many pearls of wisdom my dad shared with me about dealing with people, is also one of the simplest. Before I started working in an office environment, I asked if there was anything that I should know. My dad told me something his parents had told him; ‘when you see people you know, or work with, you should always say hello. The first time, each day, that you see them, and are in close enough proximity, you should acknowledge they exist.’
My father put his spin on it, and said ‘even if they are a son of a bitch, it costs you nothing to say hello.’
